***Before going to the lake get a free inspection for your kayak or paddle board at the inspection station in MEYERS here***
The operators of the boat ramp at Echo Lake will request to see your kayak or paddleboard and say that it’s not allowed unless it has been decontaminated at an AIS station operated by the TRPA. They are incorrect, but they will also declare that it can alternatively be clean drain and dry for five days and then enter their lakes. Or they will happily rent you theirs for $30/hour.
The boat ramp operators Echo Lake could charge you seven dollars for lunching a paddle board at the ramp, or $20 per person, minimum of three people One Direction for a boat ride across the lake.
You can easily paddle across lower and upper Echo Lake, by crossing through the channel connecting them.
Aim to get out at this dock here:
A short and rocky trail does a switchback that starts to the east or your right if you’re facing uphill, and quickly switch backs to the left and joins the main trail.
Follow the signs for aloha lake staying left when there is an option for both directions for Aloha Lake.
While paddling in aloha lake towards the west there is a sure path to the back of the lake by staying closer to the right side of the lake, but you may be able to paddle through the different channel mazes going to the center, and if you’re lucky only having to do a slight portages.
